Agnes Scott Farrar transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Apple Rehab facility in West Haven, CT. Born May 29, 1922 in Homestead, PA to the late Charles and Margaret Patterson Scott. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Farrar; her sisters, Frances Scott Best and Elizabeth Scott; niece, Joan Best (Willie) Spence; and nephew, Michael Spence. She was the mother of Verna Carr (Frederick) of Wappingers Falls, NY and Charles Farrar of Florence, SC; grandmother to Gail Carr (Bennie) Young of Lewisville, TX, Lisa Carr (Geoffrey) McLaughlin of Peekskill, NY, and Jocelyn Buffi Farrar (Francesco) Piacento of Florence, Italy; and great-grandmother of Isabella and Sophia Piacento of Florence, Italy. She leaves behind nieces and nephews living in Hamden, New Haven, and New York, and many friends.
Agnes retired from Yale New Haven Hospital as an LPN with 30 years of service. Upon retiring, Agnes spent the next 15 years devoting her time to various nursing services. She was a member of a whole host of clubs, organizations, and foundations in and around Connecticut, many of them as an officer. She was a member of the Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ for more than 75 years, serving on some of the church’s many committees.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10th at 11:00 a.m. in the Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT. Friends may visit with her family at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ.
