Ahmed Panagrossi, 'Al', 'Pany', 94, loving husband of 67 years of Carmel Parise Panagrossi of Collett St., North Haven passed away Sept. 19, at home after a brief illness. Loving father of Marie Diamond, Anne Rickards (Clinton), Philip Panagrossi, John Panagrossi (Janis). Grandfather of Michael Panagrossi, Jennifer Wassmer, Melissa Veleber, Jonathan Panagrossi, Robert Panagrossi, Clinton Rickards, II, Lisa Scrofani, Jessica Rickards and Kelly Rickards. Also surviving are 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Panagrossi was predeceased by 3 sisters, Nancy Miolene, Lucia Coassin, Mary Tortora, and 5 brothers, Ralph, Anthony, Dominic, Felice and Gerald Panagrossi. He was born in New Haven, Feb. 28, 1914, a son of the late Pellegrino and Concetta Tortora Panagrosso and graduated from Fordham University with a B.S degree. As a chemical engineer he received six patents for the use of silicone rubber. He was employed at the Connecticut Hard Rubber Co. of New Haven, was Vice President of AGC Co., Meriden, and later served as President of Quantum Co., Wallingford, before his retirement. He was a communicant and cantor of St. Rita Church, a member of the High Lane Club and the Wallingford Country Club. Al was an auxiliary policeman in North Haven, a longtime blood donor, and traveled extensively throughout the world. He was fluent in many languages, taught bridge for the North Haven Adult Education Program, and was a volunteer guide at the Peabody Museum and a volunteer tax preparer for senior citizens Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN, Tuesday morning Sept 23 at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rita Church at 10 am. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice Home Care, 110 Barnes Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
