Alan John Lehto, 56, of Westbrook, CT, formerly of Guilford, CT, died peacefully at home on Oct. 25, 2004 after a short illness. He was the kind and loving husband of Rita Connolly Lehto for 25 years. Born in Detroit, MI, Oct. 9, 1948, Alan served in the US Navy in the 1960's. He received his BS Degree from Arizona State University and his MBA from University of CT. He was employed as an area manager, professional engineer with SNET/SBC. He was an avid boater, fisherman, golfer and football fan. He is survived by his mother, Anne Lehto, sister, Lori Kenney and husband, Keith, brother, Bill, sister, Patty Carpenter Prudhomme and husband, David, all from MI; his sister by marriage, Vilma Roetting Cook and husband, Bud, brothers by marriage, Frank Connolly and wife, Terri, David Connolly, all from CT and devoted aunts, uncles, 15 nieces and nephews, 5 great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Alan was predeceased by his father, Donald and his uncle, Donald Puvogel. Alan leaves behind an abundance of devoted friends, neighbors and business colleagues. Friends may call at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, Friday, Oct. 29 from 4-8 PM. Funeral from the Swan Funeral Home, Sat., Oct. 30 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church, Madison at 10 a.m. Burial in West Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in his name to: The Parish of St. Mark The Evangelist, 222 McVeagh Road, Westbrook, CT 06498.

  1. Dear Rita and family, I worked with Alan at SNET/SBC. I will always remember Alan as a kind and thoughtful person. We had many great chats especially when we worked on the Philadelphia Cell One project together. He will be truly missed by all of our group at SNET. I have kept Alan in my thoughts and prayers throughtout his illness and will continue to do so.

  4. I mourn 4 times. Once for the passing of Al, once for myself because it was an honor to know Al and twice for Rita because I understand how it is to lose a loved one. Al was a genuine .nice guy.. We will miss him.
