Albert J. Marenholz, husband of June Spencer Marenholz of 297 West Woods Rd., Mt.Carmel passed away Sept. 28, 2001 at the Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center, Wallingford. He was born in Mt.Carmel, January 11, 1920 son of the late Otto and Martha Podgwaite Marenholz. He was a professional horseman and coach of the Yale Polo Team for 17 years during which time they won 13 intercollegiate games. Mr. Marenholtz was a 55 year member of the Day Spring Lodge, # 30 A.F. & A.M. of Hamden, member of the U.S. Polo Assoc., The Professional Horseman's Assoc. and the U.S. Air Force Historical Society. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II, as a flight engineer and navigator. He flew 28 missions, received the Presidential Citation, Distinguised Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. He was father of Sandra Marenholz of Mt. Carmel and the late Deborah Marenholz, grandfather of Joshua Toucey and Benjamin Toucey of Mt.Carmel, brother of Ruth DiGioia, Cynthia Joyce, George Marenholz, Richard Marenholz and Sterling Marenholz all of Hamden, Otto Marenholz of Drake Beach, VA and John Marenholz of Southington. He was predeceased by two sisters, Martha Marshall and Alma Rossadini. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 3 o'clock in Mount Carmel Congregational Church, 3284 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the Mt. Carmel Congregational Church.
