Alfonse Falcone, 76, husband of Doris Lichenthal Falcone of Goebel Rd. Hamden passed away Monday May 24, 2004 in the CT Hospice after a brief illness. He was born in New Haven June 7, 1927, a son of the late Michael and Vera Stella Falcone and had resided in Hamden for over 40 years. He was a tire salesman with Firestone of Hamden, was co-owner of General Tire of Bridgeport, was employed with the Bandag Tire Co. of Stratford and then with Tire Sales and Service of Stratford, retiring in June of 2003. He was a member and past president of the Bridgeport Lions Club and served in the US Army during WW II. Al was very active in New Haven Hockey. He began working as a stick boy for the Eagles in 1942 and later played goalie for the Hillhouse varsity team. With the New Haven Blades, Nighthawks, and Beast, he worked as a scorekeeper, PA announcer, and goal judge. Although he was quoted as saying that ''Nothing beats Hockey'' he also enjoyed baseball, football, & Jazz. He will be deeply missed by his loving family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Sandra L. Martin of Brandon, VT and Laura Ann Falquero of Branford; CT, 2 sons, Mark A. Falcone of Arlington, VA and Dean L. Falcone of East Haven; 4 step daughters, Deborah Holman of Hamden, Jeanne Samuel of New Orleans, LA, Katharine Anne Lynch of Hicksville, NY, and Elizabeth R. Samuel of Denver, CO; a sister Anna Belle Parent of West Haven; a brother Eugene Falcone of Wolcott; 10 grandchildren: Joshua Martin, Jesse Martin, Caitlin Holman, Meghan Holman, Clifford Samuel, Timothy Lynch, Christopher Lynch, Mia Falcone, Alex Falcone and Emma Falquero and 1 great grandchild, Jessica Martin. He is also survived by his former wife June Early Bathgate, and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Rosmarie Creed. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, May 28 at 10 AM. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church, Wooster Place New Haven at 10:30 AM. Friends may call Thursday, May 27 from 4-8 PM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
