Alfred M. Thomas, 91, husband of Helen Core Thomas of Elim Park, Cheshire, formerly of Shelton, passed away April 6, 2005. He was born in New Haven, Oct. 11, 1913 a son of the late Alfred M. and Elsie Muckridge Thomas and was a graduate of Hillhouse HS class of '31, BA from Yale College class of '35 and MUS B from Yale School of Music in '37. During WW II he served in the US Army Signal Corps as a radar repairman in Australia. Mr. Thomas taught music in the Stockbridge, MA school system and in Shelton, CT for 30 years before retirement in 1979. He was a church organist for over 50 years and active member of the Shelton United Methodist Church and was director of Valley Society for the Preservation of Barbershop Quartet Singing (SPBQS). In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Lynn Baldelli of Derby and Elizabeth Thomas of Bridgeport, grandchildren, Debi Lutinski, Marc Baldelli and Kamila Barrow. He was predeceased by a grandson, David Baldelli and a brother, Arthur Thomas. Funeral service Sat., April 9 at 10 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Memorial service at Elim Park will be held at a date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire United Methodist Church, 205 Academy Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410 or to Elim Park Baptist Home, 140 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410.
