MERIDEN-Alice Jean Kroeber, 81, of 40 Fairmount Avenue died Monday, Feb. 12, 200l at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Malcolm W. Kroeber, Sr. She was born Nov. 18, 1919 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late Carl and Ruth Chalbeck Sundberg and had worked as a secretary in the Pediatric Unit of the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was active with the Women's Group Unit 4. Alice enjoyed the outdoors. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Malcolm W. and Roseanne Kroeber, Jr. of Hockessin, Delaware and Bruce and Claudia Kroeber, Sr. of South Meriden; a sister, Dr. Dorothy Sundberg of Marco Island, FL; three grand- children, Malcolm W. Kroeber III of Hockessin, Del., Bruce Kroeber, Jr. of Waterbury and Kimberly Kroeber of Meriden; and a great-grandson, Cody F. Kroeber of Meriden. She was predeceased by a sister, Joy Barrett. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. l4, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 159 East Main St., Meriden. The Rev. Eric Henderson will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Kroeber's memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 15 Pleasant St., Meriden, CT 06450.
