Alice Shia Bundy
Alice Shia Bundy, 93, of Hamden, passed away at home on Wed., April 22, 2015 surrounded by her family. Alice leaves behind her loving daughter Beth Wolak (Michael) of Hamden, her sister Evelyn Riordan, grandchildren; Dr. Caroline Bolduc (Michael) of San Antonio, Joanna Cashman (Tom) of North Haven and Kathleen Wolak of Hamden, great-granddaughter Jacqueline Cashman, and sister-in-law Pat Riordan. She is predeceased by her husband Mervin Bundy, son, Roger Bundy, daughter-in-law Patty, brothers, William and Edward Shia, sisters, Anna Adams, Elizabeth Murray, and Jeannette Shia. Alice was born in New Haven on June 15, 1921 to the late Shukrey and Hesne Ghaezael Shia. She worked as a secretary to several accomplished architects including Paul Rudolph, and Eero Saarinen Associates. She then went on to work for the Town of Hamden as secretary, and eventually office manager of the Hamden Mental Health Service, from where she retired after 25 years. She was a proud member of The Center Church on the Green in New Haven for 80 years. Alice adored her family and loved spending time with them. She also loved cheering on the Boston Red Sox. Alice's family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to her caregiver Jellian Dempster. Friends may visit with her family on Monday April 27, 2015 from 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Her procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a celebration of her life at The Center Church on the Green in New Haven at 11a.m. Burial to follow in Whitneyville Cemetery, Hamden.
