Alida Garoppolo

MERIDEN - On Friday, April 19, 2002, Alida Garoppolo, 92, peacefully left this world to join her beloved daughter, Dorothy (Garoppolo) Ogle, her beloved son-in-law, Joseph W. Ogle and her grandson, Theodore T. Ogle in eternal rest. Alida is survived by her loving and devoted husbland of 76 years, Theodore T. Garoppolo; her loving son, John Garoppolo of Manchester, CT and her sister, Delphina Herzog of Florida. She also left six grandchildren, Donna Laich, Joseph Ogle, Jr., Cheryl Morgan, Mark and David Garoppolo and Ruth Spellman. In addition to, ten great-grandchildren, Melanie, Bryan, Stephen, Jacqueline, Valerie, Amy Jeffrey, Gregory, Jason, and Celen and one great-great-grandchild survive her. Alida was born in Ommen, Holland on August 4, 1909. She was raised by her grandparents until she emigrated to New York to live with her parents in 1921. Soon after she married Teddy Garoppola on May 26, 1926 and they have been happily married for 76 years. Her only daughter, Dorothy, predeceased Alida in 1969 and her son-in-law, Joe, quickly followed in 1970. Alida and Teddy raised their four grandchildren as their own. They will always remember their Grandmother with love and appreciation. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, Monday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral leaving Tuesday April 23rd at 9:30 am . Service at St. John Lutheran Church at 10:00.
