Alphonse Mangiero, 90, of Hamden, passed away on March 21, 2012 at the CT Hospice in Branford. Born in New Haven on May 2, 1921 to the late Frank and Ann Sacco Mangiero. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Grace Lombardi Mangiero; son, Frank Mangiero of West Haven, grandsons, Evan and Jeffrey Mangiero; sister-in-law, Annette Mangiero of Hollywood, FL; niece and nephew, Debbie Papa and David Mangiero both of Hollywood, FL. Predeceased by his brother Nicholas Mangiero. Alphonse grew up in New Haven and was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. After leaving the service, he worked at Pratt & Whitney as a sheet metal worker having retired in 1983. He was an amazing craftsmen and was always building or fixing things around his house. When not working or tinkering, Alphonse greatly enjoyed time spent with his family. Friends may visit with his family on Saturday, March 24th at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated in the Church of the Ascension at 11:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alphonse's memory may be sent to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
