In New Haven, Aug. 21, 2002, Ann Cassella Tagliatela, 73, wife of Frank J. Tagliatela of 221 Hyland Terrace, Orange, devoted and loving mother of Atty. Mark S. Tagliatela and Atty. Michael J. Tagliatela, both of Orange, sister of the late Louis A. Cassella and John Cassella. She was a great admirer of the family beagle, Winston. Ann was born in New Haven on August 21, 1929 and passed away on her birthday. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Vincenza Ruggieri Cassella and was a resident of Orange since 1958. She received an A.S. degree from Larson College (Quinnipiac University) and was a member of Alpha PI Epsilon. She was employed at Burroughs Adding Machine Co. from 1951-61 and later worked for the United States Navy Dept. (N.R.O.T.C.) at Yale University for 8 years, she was a secretary to the Assistant Director of the VA Medical Center, West Haven for 2 years. Ann was an active member of the New Haven Junior Council of Catholic Women, New Haven Council of Catholic Women and a member of the Holy Infant Church Ladies Guild, and was a life member of the DAV-Ladies Auxiliary. During the early 1950's she served in the civil defense program as a volunteer aircraft spotter. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Funeral leaving BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven, Monday, August 26 at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Infant Church, Orange at 10 o'clock. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Entombment will be at Mt. St. Peter's Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 188, North Haven CT 06473 or to Father McGiveny Cancer Center, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven 06511.
