Anna R. McCabe Turley, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at her home in Hamden. Preceding her in death was her husband of forty-six years, Maj. Joseph Turley. She was born August 19, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Margaret Scanlon and William McCabe. Also a sister to the late Margaret McCabe Leskie. Throughout her life she enjoyed all of her many travels. Her home in Hamden, where she enjoyed working in her garden, was dear to her heart, along with her church, her family, and her friends. She was employed for twenty-two years by Sears of Hamden, and was also a member of the Gold Star Wife Society for five years. In her earlier years she volunteered for the American Red Cross. She is survived by seven daughters, Regina Martindale, Margaret Turley, JoAnn (Jim) Murray, Eileen (Nate) Novarro, Annamarie Rose, Maureen (Fred) Pirone and Kathleen (Russell) Hayman. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; Heather Jeanette, Joseph Benevento, William (Christine) Rose, Mandy Novarro, Melissa (Adam) Mazzaro, Frank (Sara) Murray, Nathan Novarro, Patrick Murray, Angelo Pirone, James Murray, Annmarie Pirone, Eileen Hayman, R.J. Hayman, and Morgan Hayman, and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Jeanette and Charlotte Rose. Predeceased by Charles Rose. Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial were held on April 27th and 28th, 2015. She will be laid to eternal rest with her husband at West Point Cemetery, New York on June 17th, 2015. Anyone who wishes to attend should arrive at Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls, NY by 12:45 p.m. to begin the procession. A memorial mass will take place at the West Point Cadet Chapel at 1:30 PM. Please note all attendees should have proper photo identification to pass through cemetery security. Donations in Anna's memory may be sent to any of the following charities: CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06450, St. Rita's Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT 06517, the Morning Mass on ORTV, 15 Peach Orchard Rd., Prospect, CT 06712, or to the Archdiocese of Hartford, 134 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT 06105.

  2. I am the former Sharon Sanderson, who lived across the street from Ann for many years. She was lovely! We had so many wonderful conversations! I’m so sorry I did not learn of her passing as I would have paid my respects in person. She was such a sweet woman. My condolences to all. Thanks for the memories, Anna. RIP.
