Born in: New Haven, CT
Resided in: Wallingford, CT

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Edward Fusco on November 23, 2025. Anthony, son of the late Virgilio and Rosalie Mongillo Fusco, had just celebrated his 88th birthday with his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorrine and his three children, Lorie Fusco, Mark (Tracy) Fusco, Sr., and Jason (Erin) Fusco; ten grandchildren, Rebecca (Michael) Rauch, David (Emily), Rachael, Samuel, and Zachary McCollum, Mark Jr. (Christina), Angela, Gianna, Grace and Olivia Fusco; one great-granddaughter, Sienna Fusco; and brother-in-law, Richard (Janice) Halliday. He also dearly loved all his nieces and nephews, but especially Karen Eighmy and Kevin Ford, who always provided unconditional support and love. He was predeceased by his brother, James Fusco and wife Dolores; sister, Virginia Ford and her husband William; and his grandson, Jacob McCollum.

Tony was a 30-year resident of North Haven before recently moving to Wallingford. He graduated from Hamden High School and attended Quinnipiac University for one semester until his father passed. Tony spent 40 plus years working as a grocer, where he rose to the level of District Manager for Grand Union Supermarkets, ultimately overseeing all their stores in Fairfield County. It was at Grand Union where the young man nicknamed “the Fusilli” met the love of his life, Dorrine, who was working as a cashier at the Hamden store. The two were married in 1960 and spent 65 wonderful years together, raising their children and enjoying time with their grandchildren (his real legacy). Tony loved spending time with Dorrine and eating home-cooked meals from the woman he thought was the best chef ever! He enjoyed coffee with his buddies a few times a week, but Tony’s real passion in life was buying and selling things at “the market” and finding deals so he could spoil his grandchildren.

Tony will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday, December 1st from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon in the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. Burial will be private. 1. We are so very sorry for your loss. He was such a loving, kind man. He adored his children and grandchildren (and great grand daughter). He always had a smile on his face and made time for everyone. Tony was one of a kind. He will be missed. Prayers to all of you. May he Rest In Peace.

  2. Mark and family…..I am so very sorry for your loss. Sending lots of love and prayers to all of you during this very difficult time. Praying your memories will get you through this time.

  3. Mr Fusco was the sweetest neighbor and friend. We will never forget his kindness, generosity and love that he had for the Surrey Drive community.

    Our condolences,
    Kristin (DiCarlo) Liguori and family

  4. Tony & Dorrine were like family to us when we moved to Surrey Drive 50 years ago. Tony always lent a hand to me with everything and was the best next door neighbor! My sincere sympathy to the entire family.

  5. Patti and I couldn’t ask for next door neighbors any better than Tony & Dorrine. We witnessed a couple full of love and devotion, which they were for decades. I took him to the hospital for his appointments. I played Frank Sinatra in the car. We would talk about golf, the Yankees, UCONN, and his family who he loved deeply and was so very proud of. Our sincere condolences to Dorrine and the family.

  6. Mike and I are so fortunate to have lived next door to Tony and Dorreen . Tony was a wonderful man, who was always there to help out if needed. He and Doreen had a beautiful relationship. He adored his wife and was always concerned for her . Their love for one another was an inspiration for all . I love them both so much , like family. Tiny grew up on Helen street in Hamden just like my mom. He was a hamdenite , and Italian just like us. He was like family to me. Living in Hamden all my life I would go to grand union supermarket with my mom and grandmother for years. I probably saw Tony and Doreen many times way back then. Maybe that’s why I felt so close to them when I moved here to Wallingford. They are special people, wonderful people , and we were very lucky to have to known Tony . He will be missed very much.
