Anthony J. Lorusso, age 91, of Hamden, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Anthony was born in Woodbridge, CT on May 1, 1919, a son of the late James & Flora Testa Lorusso. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Carmela Bimonte Lorusso; his daughter Kathy Shine & her husband David; his grandchildren Christopher & Theresa Shine all of Hamden; his sister, Margaret Solecki of North Haven; his brother James Lorusso of Florida and several nieces & nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Silvestro, Faye Lorusso & Patricia Kapish and brothers, Frank, John and Gennaro Lorusso. Anthony was employed for over 25 years at (Winchester) Olin Mathieson Corp. Prior to that he owned and operated an auto body shop. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a parishioner of the Blessed Sacrament Church for over 40 years. His funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden on Wednesday at 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in the Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden. Friends may also visit with his family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will take place in All Saint's Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to The American Heart Assoc. - 5 Brookside Dr, Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the Connecticut Humane Society- 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
