Arlene B. Zehalla, of Elim Park, Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, passed away on June 21, 2023. Arlene was born July 11, 1924 to the late Edna (Hague) and Joseph Berchtold. She is survived by her beloved son, Atty. Stephen J. Zehalla, grandchildren, James (Kathleen) Brennan and Amy (Dominic) Milano, and great-grandchildren, Colton and Jayden Brennan and Dominic, Sofia, and Alphonse Milano. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen N. Zehalla, an infant son, Joseph, her sister, Jean Berchtold, aunt and uncle, Lena and Frank Nolan, cousin, Marge Collins, and daughter-in-law, Carmela DellaMura.
Arlene graduated from UCONN in 1945, followed by a year’s Dietetic Internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in NY. She became employed as a Registered Dietitian at St. Luke’s, then worked for more than 30 years at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She had been a resident of Elim Park for over 13 years.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 27th at 10 a.m. in BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arlene’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Elim Park, CT Hospice, and her aid Nova, as well as her many friends for all of their love and support during these trying times. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arlene’s memory should be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
