Arthur Rickel

Arthur Rickel, age 90, of Hamden, passed away on January 7, 2014 at his residence. Born in Bridgeport, CT on March 30, 1923 he was the son of the late Joseph and Fanny Smoke Rickel. Arthur was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Havir Rickel and his sister Cecile Spector. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Janet Cesanek of Orange; grand nephews Brian & Randall Cesanek; grand niece Elizabeth Cesanek and his sister in-law Ann Surace of PA. Arthur was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was a retired engineer, employed by AVCO and the Textron Corporation. Arthur was very proud that he was one of the engineers working on the first lunar module for NASA. He was a history and photography enthusiast and enjoyed traveling along with his wife. Friends may attend his Graveside Service on Wednesday, January 15th at 10:00 AM in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden, that will conclude with Military Honors.
