Arthur VanDerMaelen

Arthur VanDerMaelen, 84, of Hamden, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at CT Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of Raye Menna VanDerMaelen. Arthur was born in New Haven on January 6, 1927 to the late Arthur VanDerMaelen, Sr & Mildred Clarke VanDerMaelen. He is survived by step-daughters Linda & her husband Anthony Iazzetta of Hamden and Sandi & her husband Frank Perez of Fresno, CA; step-son Dominick & his wife Marsha Prodoti of Westbrook; his sister Joyce Johns of Meriden; 4 step-grandchildren, 9 step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers John and Robert VanDerMaelen. Arthur worked at High Standard in Hamden and retired from Johnny Barton Distributors in North Haven. He also was a Merchant Marine prior to serving in the U. S. Army. Friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:00am in St Ann's Church, 930 Dixwell Ave, Hamden. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, CT. 06405.
