November 9, 1928 ~ August 30, 2025

Born in: Mersea Island, England
Resided in: Hamden, Connecticut

Audrey Ellen Jane Loukides, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on 30 August 2025. She was born on Mersea Island in England on November 9, 1928, the fifth of eight children of Ernest and Ida Weller, Sr. After enduring WWII on Mersea, she immigrated with her family to the United States in 1948. They lived on Long Island, and she worked as a bookkeeper in New York City for music publisher Boosey & Hawkes. In 1954, she became the bride of Michael Loukides, and they soon moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where they raised five children.

She expressed her devotion to God in acts of service, with a focus on missions and evangelism. She was a long-time member of Westwoods Bible Chapel in Hamden and more recently of Trinity Evangelical Church in Woodbridge, where she served on missions committees. She loved to keep in touch with missionaries in far-flung places, and many of them stayed in touch with her for years. She was a talented pianist and sang alto in the church choir, and enjoyed cooking and baking for church events. She constantly encouraged her children in their many ventures. And when they became parents, she cared for their children. Among her things, we found a piece of paper with some ideas she’d written down for serving God as a resident of Benchmark Senior Living, even as her abilities were fading. The staff described her as sweet and cheerful, and said that she was praying constantly. The night before she passed, she prayed with a staff member who helped her at bedtime.

She was predeceased by her husband, her daughter Martha Walker, and her daughter-in-law Jill. She is survived by her sons Michael (Judith), David (Wendy), Timothy (Jill), and John (Darlene), her son-in-law Christopher Walker, and her beloved grandchildren: Kathleen (Kurt), David (Ciara), Alex, Josiah (Caitlin), Zion, Seraphim, Johnny, and Tori.
