MERIDEN - Barbara Flagg Hartenstein, 85, of 174 South Broad Street, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Albert Hartenstein. Born in Meriden on March 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mildred Luffey Flagg. She had been the Director and Administrative Assistant at Crosson Convalescent Home and later worked as a nurse at Brook Hollow Health Care Center. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Meriden and was a member of the Meriden Women's Club and the Meriden City Mission. Also, she volunteered at the Connecticut Baptist Home. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gareth and Lorna Hartenstein of Meriden; a son-in-law, Alan Brooke of Southington; a sister, Betty Miller of Great Falls, Montana; and a granddaughter, Linsey Hartenstein of Meriden. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Brooke. The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at the Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
