Barbara Sweeney Gosselin of Hamden died on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. She was born in New Haven on May 25, 1927 a daughter of the late James U. and Evelyn Kennedy Sweeney. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Arthur H. Gosselin, and her five daughters; Michele (Robert) Post of Manchester Center, VT, Sandra (Christy) Pontillo of Clinton, Janette (Albert) Piscitelli of Bonita Springs, FL, Margaret (Douglas Watters) Gosselin of Toronto, Canada, and Elizabeth (Paul) Powers of North Haven. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was predeceased by her brother, James U. Sweeney, Jr. A graduate of Day School in New Haven , Barbara received a B.A. from Albertus Magnus College and a M.S. from Southern CT State University. She was a teacher at the Helen Street School in Hamden . At her request, there will be no services. BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave. , Hamden in care of arrangements. Contributions in Barbara's memory may be sent to, Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. , Branford, CT 06405.

I will always remember our early days in the Spring Glen(Middle Rd)neighbor hood–and our mutual friend: Marcia Glynne(Fortino).

My mother, Nancy Gillies Grandel, who also grew up in Hamden/New Haven area, is still alive at 90, but has suffered a severe stroke and is unable to communicate verbally.   17. Grandpa and Family, It has saddened us deeply for the loss that we share. Grandma was a huge part of our lives. I will always remember our times shared together. Some of the best memories are when we came to visit you on Cedar Island or in Treasure Island. I can still see Grandma making us little ham sandwiches and potato sticks for lunch on the beach.
