Bernadine Asman Nolan, 80, of Ridge Rd., Hamden, wife of the late Edward Poli Nolan, passed away on November 16, 2007 after a short illness. She was born in Decatur, IL on May 30, 1927 to the late Robert and Anna M. Spaeth Asman. Bern had an appreciation and love for music which she shared with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Family came before anything else in her life. Bern leaves her children Regina Nolan Broderick and her husband James of London, England, Andrea Nolan DiLibero and her husband Alan of Cincinnati, OH, Edward Poli Nolan, Jr. of Hamden, Christopher Poli Nolan of Wallingford, and Timothy Poli Nolan and his wife Ellyn of Hamden. Grandchildren Timothy, Ashley, Adam, Matthew, Blaire, Laura, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Lindsey, siblings Gretchen Jacob and Anton Asman. Besides her loving husband, Bern is predeceased by siblings Ann Marie Bussmann, Robert J. Asman, Jr., Carl J. Asman and Regina Donovan. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN on Tuesday morning, November 20th at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Hamden. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial Contributions in Bernadine's name may be sent to ACES for Special Education, 350 State Street, North Haven, CT 06473 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-2132.

  3. Dear Nolan cousins, I am so sorry for the loss of our dear Aunt Bern. She was always the rock of the family and I will always remember her wonderful Christmas extravaganzas! Aunt Bern stood firmly on the ground with her steady and solid manner. I felt I could always count on her being there and managing anyone’s storms with dignity and grace.
