Beverly J. (Trestrail) Bassett, age 86, of Hamden, passed away on August 19, 2017. Beverly was born in Waterbury on August 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Frederick & Emma (Koebler) Trestrail, Sr. She was the widow of Donald E. Bassett, Sr. and predeceased by her former husband Theodore Hodio. Beverly is survived by her son Donald E. Bassett, Jr. of Hamden & his wife Christine (Oliva) Bassett of Glastonbury; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hodio, Jessica Hodio, Louis Acupora and Sophia Klump, and her daughters-in-law Joyce Hodio & Debra Hodio. She was predeceased by her sons, Jon Hodio & Theodore Hodio, and her brother Frederick Trestrail, Jr. Beverly was a former Nurses Aide at Whitney Manor Health Care in Hamden and later a self- employed aid & home care provider. A resident of Hamden most of her life, she also lived in Puerto Rico for a number of years with her former companion Juan Santiago. Friends may visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Her Prayer Service will be begin at 10:30 AM in the funeral home followed by her burial in Centerville Cemetery.

  1. Dear cousin Donald, I share your sadness and pray for strength, healing and peace. I know the hole in your heart right now and can tell you that the pain is less sharp as time goes on. The hole is always there but as you crawl out of it you will soon be walking around that hole. You soon will be comforted by all of your mom’s laughter and love and wonderful memories. Been through so much to a sad ending. But special memories with Your Mom, My Parents, You as a Step Dad, Job, great friends at work and more. So Sorry.

  5. Don so sorry for your loss. Bev was a good lady had many cups of tea at her kitchen table and shared many laughs wirh her. She was a good friend to mom and a good neighbor.   6. Don, my deepest condolences, I was so saddened to hear about your mom. Your mom was the best when I had visited from CA. my sister Rose(your neighbor)your mom treated me like family. My sister Rose will deeply miss her, especially going to Bingo together. Your mom was a good mother as well as a good friend to all that knew her. thoughts and healing prayers are with you.
