Bruce C. Barna, 69, of Hamden, passed away on December 17, 2015 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Born on December 3, 1946 in Hartford to the late Eugene and Mary Poppy Barna. Bruce was the loving husband of 31 years to Robin Barna; father to, Jesse Barna of New Haven & his girlfriend Emily Knipe and Keith Barna of Hamden & his girlfriend Christine Furtak; brother to, Bradley Barna & his wife Wendy of Kennesaw, GA. He grew up in Branford and Morris Cove and has been in Hamden for the last 27 years. Bruce had been enrolled at SCSU as an English major when he was drafted into the service. He then enlisted into the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at Lackland AFB in TX then honorably served during Vietnam at Bitburg AFB in Germany as a Medic. Bruce was an avid skier and outdoorsman. He enjoyed photography and was a member of the Ansonia Rod & Gun Club. Bruce could fix anything and had been employed at McDermott Chevrolet and Maaco of Hamden. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Smilow in New Haven and North Haven for their excellent care. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Sunday, December 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by an interment with Military Honors in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
