Meriden- Carl Theodore Wirth, 97, formerly of 58 Horton Ave., died Sunday, August 15 at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Helen Edith (Hackbarth) Wirth. He was born in Meriden, November 30, 1906 a son of the late Karl and Antoinette (Teige) Wirth. He was a supernumerary police officer and worked as chief electrician at New Departure. Carl belonged to the Meriden Ham Radio Association, the Meriden Amateur Radio Club (W1FEF) and the American Radio Relay League. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne J. Wirth of Meriden and Warren C. and Janice Wirth of Silver Springs, FL, a sister Amelia Wirth of Meriden, six grandchildren, Sean Wirth of Spring, TX, Daniel Wirth of Mondsview, MN, Andera Wirth of Margate, FL, Barbara Wirth of Stratford, CT, Walter Wirth of Naugatuck, Ct and Margaret Wirth of Meriden. Funeral service Monday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Cynthia Strosahl will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
