In the Garden of Life God always picks a Rose. Carmel 'Carol' M. Massaro Forto, passed away at Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire on Nov. 21, 2008. Formerly of Hamden, she was the widow of Joseph Anthony Forto. She leaves behind her daughter Patricia 'Pat' (Edward) D'Addio of Cheshire, her son Anthony 'Chickie' (Laurie) Forto of Derby; sisters Theresa Florio of Hamden, Rose Savo of Wallingford & Phyllis Olivieri of Cheshire; brothers Anthony Massaro (Frances) of Branford & Michael Massaro (Brenda) of New Haven; grandchildren Edward, David & Jennifer D'Addio all of Cheshire & great grandchildren Dylan, Brooke & Drew D'Addio. Born in New Haven on Oct. 6, 1913 she was a daughter of the late Joseph & Pasqualina Giannotti Massaro. Carol was predeceased by her great granddaughter Victoria D'Addio, a brother Joseph Massaro & sisters Mary Massaro & Victoria Guarino. She was formerly employed at Sargent & Co. Her funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Tuesday at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Anthony's Church, New Haven. Friends may also visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 PM. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Anthony's Church, 70 Washington Ave, New Haven, CT 06519 or to Elim Park Baptist Home, 140 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410.

  1. Dear Pat, Ed, & family, I was so sorry to hear that your Mother/Grandmother passed away. My deepest sympathy at this very difficult time for all of you. I have great memories of her across from my office when I was working there. She was such a sweet, caring, & patient lady. God’s Blessings to all of you.
