Carmen Chaparro, 81, a resident of Meriden for over 50 years, passed away at MidState Medical Center on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on December 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Marcial and Archangel Velez Mirles, and moved to the U.S. upon marrying her beloved husband of 50 years, the late Juan C. Chaparro. Loving mother to her caregivers, Nydia (Vincent) Ferrigno of Meriden and Lourdes (Gary) Uscilla of Cheshire, and daughters, Minerva (Thomas) Cedeno of Meriden and Miriam (Michael) Coppola of Wallingford, and her beloved son, the late Juan M Chaparro. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Thomas and Javier Cedeno, David Chaparro, Deniece (Arda) Degirmenci, Stephanie Chaparro, Sara and Matthew Trowbridge, John-Michael and Matthew Coppola; great-grandchildren, Hayley Chaparro, Christian, Aidan and Isabella Cedeno, Lila and Bianca Degirmenci and Zoe Ferrigno; sisters, Serviliana Mirles and Martha (Jose) Mendoza; brothers, Bernardo and Alejandro Mirles. Predeceased by her siblings, Sinforiano Mirles, Virgilio Mirles, Paula Matias and Serafina Santiago. Carmen's family was her pride and joy; she loved caring for them and cooking large family dinners. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, August 4th in St. Rose Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of BEECHER & BENNETT- FLATOW FUNERAL HOME, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
