Carol L. Quinn

Carol L. (Metrelis) Quinn, 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at home in Southwick, MA on May 6, 2021. Born in New Haven on September 15, 1929, Carol was the daughter of the late Peter and Louise (Brainard) Metrelis.

Carol graduated from Meriden High School in 1947. She worked for 46 years in diagnostic imaging, initially at Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke, MA, and then at Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield, MA. She retired in 1992.

Carol was an avid reader and for the past seventeen years, she volunteered to manage the library at the community center where she resided. In addition to other interests, Carol also volunteered at Baystate Noble Hospital and was on the Board of the Friends of the Westfield Athenaeum.

Family and friends meant the world to Carol, and she was grateful for the joy and support they brought to her life.

Carol is survived by her nephew, Peter Alusitz, and his wife, Michelle Mariash, of Yorktown Heights, NY, and their children William Alusitz and Sylvie Alusitz, her niece, Jean McNamara, and her husband, Jeffrey, of East Lyme, CT, and their children Lauren Fitzpatrick, Leigh Gianakos and Wade McNamara. She is also survived by one great-great nephew, Leo Gianakos, and two great-great nieces, Maeve Gianakos and Rory Fitzpatrick. Carol is predeceased by her loving sister and best friend, Nancy Alusitz, and Nancy’s husband William.

Funeral Service and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Beecher and Bennett Funeral Home, 48 Cook Avenue, Meriden, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol Quinn’s memory can be made to the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, 97 North Hatfield Road, Hatfield, MA 01038.
