Cecilia E. Pichnarcik Lyons, age 77, of Swarthmore St., Hamden, passed away Aug. 27, 2008 in her home with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John M. Lyons, Sr., children Sheila Wallace of Lakeville, MA, Pamela (John) Griffin of Madison, Cynthia (Steve) Sullivan of San Jose, CA, Catherine F. Lyons (Chip Caton) of Bloomfield, Linda (Christopher)Ruzzi of Stamford, Janet (David) Fowler of Hamden, Deborah (Daniel) Cavanaugh of North Grafton, MA, Karen (Sean) Aherne of Shrewsbury, MA, John M. Lyons, Jr. of Scarsdale, NY, Brian A. Lyons of New Haven and Rodney T. Lyons of Hamden. She also leaves 10 grandchildren. Ceil was born in Meriden on Nov. 11, 1930 to the late Catherine Pichnarcik. Besides her parents Ceil was predeceased by her daughter Susan Lyons and her brother Anthony J. Pichnarcik. She enjoyed her volunteer work at the Clelian Adult Day Care Center and was an active communicant of St. Rita Church. Her funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM in St. Rita Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden.   1. A loving wife of 55 years, an adored mom and loving grandmother to so many children, a dedicated volunteer. Mrs. Lyons certainly led by example and will be greatly missed, but with a life of giving to others so fully, she will not only be remembered, but revered.   16. To the Lyons Family, As you may remember, .Mrs.Lyons. was my most favorite customer at Whitneyville Food Center. I would wait for her to walk through that door so that I could be her shadow. My most favorite memories in the store involve my friendship with Mrs. Lyons. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. What an amazing woman and a wonderful friend.
