Charles W. Matakaetis

In the Hospital of St. Raphael, Sept. 7, 2004, Charles W. Matakaetis, 73 husband of 52 years of Ethel Rawson Matakaetis, of Sunny Acres, Wallingford, formerly of West Haven and Florida. Father of Charlene Bruce of West Haven and Charles ''Bud'' Matakaetis of North Haven, brother of Richard Matakaetis of Hobe Sound, FL and grandfather of Charles and Benjamin Matakaetis. Charles was born in Waterbury, CT, Dec. 31, 1930 a son of the late Charles J. and Sophie Rozinski Matakaetis. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a resident of West Haven for 25 years, moved to Florida in 1979 and returned to live in Wallingford in 2003. He was employed by the former Wilson H. Lee Printing of Orange for 14 years, worked in quality control for 12 years at Armstrong Rubber and as a security guard in Florida for Holiday Inn and retired in 1994. Friends may call Friday, Sept. 10 from 4 - 6 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave. at Court St., West Haven. Memorial service to follow at 6 p.m.
