Cheryth C. Townsend

Cheryth C. Townsend, 87 of Hamden, wife of the late John H. Townsend, passed away Nov. 11, 2011. She was born in West Haven, Feb. 16, 1924, a daughter of the late Walter and Gladys Mason Crowther and had resided in Hamden since 1963. She was a realtor with the Cone Realty Co. of Hamden for 25 years prior to her retirement in 1999. Cheryth is survived by a daughter and her husband, Margaret and Richard Stefanec of Hamden, her granddaughter Laura Stefanec of Hamden, nieces and nephews, Barbara, Howard and Bruce Bultinck of Chicago, IL, Anne Malone & Robert Crowther of Branford, and special gratitude is given to her friend and caregiver Betty Humphrey. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister Fae Bultinck and a brother Bruce Crowther. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN. Friends may visit with her family Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment in East Lawn Cemetery. Since we haven’t seen Cheryth since her visit here years ago, we will always remember her as a vivacious woman who lit up any room she was in. She was such a caring woman and always very kind to us. Dear Margaret, we know you were so close to your mother and this is one of the most difficult times in your life. All of us, Bruce and Karen, Joey, Jessie, Brandon and Trevor, have you foremost in our thoughts.
