Christine M. Slomkowski

Cheshire-Christine M. Slomkowski, 86, of Southwick Court, wife of the late Leon Victor Slomkowski, Sr., passed away peacefully at home Wednesday July 25, 2001. She was born in Dulcze Wielka, Poland, July 25, 1915 a daughter of the late Szczepan and Bronislawa Jajo Kurek and had lived in Hamden from 1960 to 1995, and lived in Payson, AZ for 3 years before moving to Cheshire in 1998. Mrs. Slomkowski was an avid gardener and spent many hours making her surroundings more enjoyable for herself and her family. She is survived by two daughters; Dr. Bernice Szafarek of Lebanon, CT, Lilusia Slomkowska,MFA, PhD. of Tucson, AZ, a son, Leon V. Slomkowski, Jr. of Hamden, 2 brothers; Jan and Zygmunt Kurek both of Dulcze Wielka, Poland, 6 sisters; Aniela Ofinowski of Dulcze Wielka, Poland, Zosia Isio of Frombork, Poland, Janka Paluch of Toronto, Ontario, Wladzia Hale of Schawmburg, IL, Rosia Ambicka and Amelia Miernik both of Zabkowicze Slaske, Poland and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Stefanie Kurianowicz and Helena Cichon. Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday from 4-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Lebanon, CT, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial in New Lebanon Cemetery.
