Claire Elizabeth Jackson

Claire Elizabeth Jackson, of Hamden, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, died March 20, 2026 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Dorchester, MA on May 8, 1954 to the late Theodore and Rita McGaffigan West.

Claire had worked in the insurance industry for such companies as MetLife, Travelers, John Hancock and New England Life until retiring in 2015. Those who knew her love for ocean cruises and beaches nicknamed her Caribbean Claire. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and communicant of St. Paul VI Parish in Hamden.

Claire will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Paul; daughter, Courtney; new grandson, Koda; and sister, Patricia West. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Amanda, and a sister, Carol.

Friends are invited to join Claire’s family on Friday, April 17th at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial being offered at St. Paul VI Parish in St. Rita’s Church, 1620 Whitney Ave. Burial will be private.
