Cora Ann Peckham, 87, of West Haven, wife of the late Kent Peckham, passed away at her home with family by her side on July 1, 2023. Born in New Haven on June 27, 1936 to the late Charles and Harriett Scott, Cora grew up in the Mt. Carmel section of Hamden before moving to West Haven, where she had been since 1958. She had a long career working for the Water Company and SNET, both in the collections department. She was always active, whether doing Bingo, bowling in one of her leagues, or playing pinochle for the last 56 years. Even up until recently, Cora was still going out with the “Jeanettes.”
Cora will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Deborah and Ed Smith of Hamden, Lora and John Kelly of Stormville, NY, Kimberly and James Glatz of Greentown, PA, and Mark and Cheryl Peckham of East Haddam; her brother Edward and Judy Scott of Southbury; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Bissell, Jean Peckham, and Doris Strampach.
A Memorial Service will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Friday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m. Friends are invited to visit with her family before the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations in Cora’s name may be sent to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
