Denise Helen Letkowski, 69, of Hamden passed away on January 9, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a short illness. Born in New Haven on January 18, 1951 to the late Anthony and Marion Nugent Martin. Denise spent her career as a payroll clerk for SNET. After retiring she worked as a sales associate at the jewelry counter at Kohl’s. When not working she took delight in puzzles, trivia, and anything Harry Potter. She also enjoyed trips to the casino. Time spent with family and friends was very important to Denise, but time with her grandchildren was cherished.
Denise will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses, Robin & Ed Shura of Wallingford, R.C. & Katherine Letkowski of Madison, and Heather Letkowski & her husband Colin Morris of East Haven; her grandchildren, Justin Letkowski , Morgan, Madison, & Hayley Shura, and Riley & Corey Letkowski; and her siblings and their spouses, Diane & Jim Stackpole, Jim & Deesha Martin, and Linda & Jim Mentillo.
Friends are invited to visit with her family on Wednesday, January 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions in Denise’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave. Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451 or at www.heart.org.

Denise, we were bff for over 50 years. We always joked we were “soul sisters”. You were always there for me, the wisest person I knew. I will miss you more than I can ever say. Rest in the arms of the angels.
