Dirk B. Gazing

In Wallingford, April 9, 2001, Dirk B. Gazing of Wallingford formerly of Old Lyme, entered into rest, he was the husband of the late Vera Smith Gazing. He was born Jan. 15, 1917 in Leiden, Netherlands. He served in the Dutch Merchant Marines for 6 years serving in the Pacific during WW II. He then moved to Old Lyme in 1946 where he worked for Electric Boat for 25 years before retiring. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners for 45 years. He is survived by his son William Gazing and his wife Betsy of Clinton, CT, a daughter Susan Rose of Newport, NH, 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristen and David. He is also survived by a brother and 3 sisters in Katwyk, Netherlands. A Memorial service will be held at the Masonic Chapel in the Masonic Home, Wallingford on Sat. April 21 at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
