Donald C. Ellis, 82, husband of the late Florence M. Russell Ellis, passed away October 13, 2016. Don was born in Hamden July 28, 1934, a son of the late Earle & Ethel Buller Ellis and brother of the late Earle T. Ellis. He had resided in North Haven for most of his life in his childhood home. He is survived by his sister, Claudia Davison of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Lorraine Ellis Rosenbeck, stepdaughter, Kimberly Plisco & her husband Legh of Montgomery, TX; stepson George L. Russell III & his wife Theresa of Orange City, FL; nieces, Sharon (Randall) Robinson and Suzanne (Matthew) Jaffe and their families; nephews, Earle (Bonnie) and Edward Ellis, Kerry (Jolie) and Kenneth (Terri) Davison and their families; step-grandchildren Brian & Kevin Plisco, Justin, Christopher & Nicole Russell and Alicia Casanova and great-grandson Grayson Russell. Don served as the Branford Town Engineer from 1963-1985, and was the North Haven Town Engineer from 1986 until his retirement in 1990. He served in the US Army during the 1950's in Germany, and was a lifelong member of the West Ridge Vol. Fire Dept. in North Haven. Friends may visit with his family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Sunday from 5-7 pm and may attend his funeral service at the funeral home on Monday at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. Memorial contributions in Donald's name may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090.
