Donald James MacMillan, Jr., 'Donnie Mac', 52, of Raleigh, NC passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Raleigh. The loving son of Donald J. and Frances Budnick MacMillan, Sr., of West Haven, he is also survived by his beloved sister Diane MacMillan, also of West Haven and many dear Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and dear Terrie. Donnie was born in New Haven on January 4, 1959. A 1977 West Haven High School Graduate and Hockey All American. He also attended the University of New Haven He followed his love for hockey and the 'perfect ice' from New Haven to Hartford to Raleigh, NC where he was employed by The RBC Center/Carolina Hurricanes as Building Superintendent and got the most enjoyment of being the 'ICEMAN'. He followed his love for life with his boating, motorcycling, and his annual cross country RVing with his family and friends. His funeral will leave from BEECHER & BENNETT-TAYLOR Funeral Home, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 10:30 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church, 41 Alling St., West Haven at 11 AM. Friends may also visit with his family on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.

  10. I will always remember the great times we shared in West Haven High with Donnie. Especially the Senior Prom, when he took the station wagon and drove six of us to the prom. He was a great person and will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.

  11. It was with great sadness that we learned of Don’s passing. We were next door neighbors for a long time. Don was always a friendly, warm person and was always willing to help anyone.He was also a very hard working guy at home and at work.Even though he moved away several years ago, he was missed in the neighborhood and it was always a pleasure to see him any time he was able to come to CT.May we express our condolences to his family.

  12. Donnie, since you are our newest angel can you please gather Gram and everyone and please help your Aunt Gerry make it through this very hard time. We miss you very much especially during her favorite holiday. Driving to the hospital every day I pass the cemetery and I ask for Gram and all our family\’s angels to help. Please let us keep her a little bit longer. Merry Christmas, my dear cousin!

  13. Dearest Donnie, we are always missing you dearly especially on your birthday. On Sunday as we spread my mom’s ashes on the end zone at the Buffalo Bills game and a John Deere tractor was passing by, I felt as if that happened to let us know you were there too!
