Doris Falcone, 79, of Hamden, passed away December 2, 2011. Born on March 5, 1932, in Vienna, Austria, she was the daughter of Paul and Rose Spiegel Lichtenthal. Doris and her family arrived in the United States in 1938. She graduated from New Rochelle High and continued her education at Katherine Gibbs, in NYC. Doris had four daughters with her first husband, Alan Samuel; Deborah (Scott) Holman, Jeanne (Kroll) Samuel, Katharine (Brian) Lynch and Elizabeth (Michael Joseph) Samuel. With her second husband, Alfonse Falcone, Doris had a son, Dean Falcone. Doris is also survived by her three step-children, Sandra (David) Martin, Mark Falcone and Laura (John) Falquera and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Falcone. Doris dedicated her life to raising her children and is survived by 11 fabulous grandchildren; Joshua and Jesse Martin, Caitlin and Meghan Holman, Clifford Samuel-Hine, Timothy and Christopher Lynch, Mia, Alex and Elliott Falcone and Emma Falquero. Doris' diverse interests included dollhouse miniatures, baking, bird-watching, raccoon-feeding, and reading. Doris greatly enjoyed her volunteer work with the Quinnipiac University Jazz and Concert Series. Her family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Yale-New Haven Hospital, particularly unit 7-5 , for their care and support during Doris' final days. Doris' life will be celebrated at the Playwright Restaurant, 1232 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on December 17th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, all are welcomed. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hamden Elderly Services, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, Ct. 06518.
