Doris 'Terry' Catherine Sloane

In Hamden, May 1, 2002. Doris ''Terry'' Catherine Sloane, 94, formerly of 2405 Whitney Ave., Hamden and Northford, wife of the late Laurence A. Sloane. Born in New Zealand on February 4, 1908, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Meale. She came to the United States in 1948 and served as Secretary at St. Monica's Church in Northford for 27 years. Mrs. Sloane was a charter member of the North Branford Women's Club. When she moved to Hamden she attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She lived a remarkable life, she loved gardening and baking pies. Her humor and heartwarming hospitality made her home a haven for friends. She was always smiling and was such a pleasure to be with. All her friends and family will always remember her that way. She leaves two nephews, Grahame and Desmond Jarratt of New Zealand, a sister-in-law, Corinne Philbin of FL and longtime cherished friends, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Zehalla, Mrs. Muriel Carmichael, Vivian Degallo, Martha Dengler, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Peck, Maureen Grunbeck,and many friends in Northford and Hamden. She was predeceased by a sister Cecilia Jarratt and brothers, Joseph and Laughlin Meale. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN on Monday, May 6, at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10 A.M. Friends may call Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M, Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Hamden.
