MERIDEN - Dorothy Elsie Wojan, 89, of 85 Carter Avenue Ext., oldest child of Julius and Augusta Hoffman Wojan, went to her heavenly reward on Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Miller Memorial Community. Dorothy was born in Meriden on August 5, 1916 and graduated from Meriden High School with the Class of 1934. She worked at the Meriden Trust and Safe Deposit Bank for 46 years and served on the Board of Directors during her final years there. For many years Dorothy sang in the choir at the former Augustana Lutheran Church, which later merged with Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy is survived by two brothers, Bernard Wojan and Robert Wojan, both of Meriden; three nephews, Mark Wojan of Los Angeles, Alaric Wojan of Cromwell and Timothy Wojan and his wife, Lila, and their children, Elise, Christian and Olivia of Rockville, Maryland. Dorothy is also survived by three nieces, Martha Steenburgh and her husband, Jay Bailey and their children, Robert and Alexandra of New Hartford, Marilyn Steenburgh of West Hartford and Joan Wojan of Arlington, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by a brother, George Wojan. The funeral will be held Saturday, June 10, at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden.
