Dorothy R. Shoneck
Meriden - Dorothy R. (Hass) Shoneck, 86 wife of the late Andrew Shoneck passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009 at her home. She was born February 20, 1923 in Meriden a daughter of the late Walter and Viola (Schnabel) Hass. She was a parishioner of St. John Lutheran Church. Dorothy was secretary for the lighting division of The Miller Company for 44 years before retiring in 1986. She loved to knit, ballroom dance and was a loving aunt who took care of the whole family. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Paul Mauri of Meriden, a sister-in-law, Angela Hass of Meriden, three nieces, Donna Dlugos and her husband Bob, Sue Toomey and her husband Michael and Darlene Allen all of Meriden, two nephews, Donald Hass Jr. and Arthur Hass both of Meriden, several great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew. She was predeceased by a step-son, Robert Shoneck, a sister Vernal Mauri, brother Donald Hass Sr. and a nephew, Kevin Mauri. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11:00am at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden. The Rev. James Stoltenberg will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30am to 11am prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450 , ATT: The Rabe Fund or the Sunshine Fund. The Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden is in charge of the arrangements.
We have lost a wonderful woman. Dot will forever have a special place in my heart. She was a caring, kind, and gentle woman. Dot was like a grandmother to my children. She will be truly missed.
