Hamden - Ebba Wilma Leaf Casius 87, of Laurel Gardens, 35 Hamden Hills Drive, died October 17, 2003 at the Hamden Health Care Center. Born in New Haven in 1916, the daughter of John Leaf and Minnie Miller she was the widow of Walter J. Casius of Orange and Hamden. A 1934 graduate of Hillhouse High School she went on to obtain her RN degree from the St. Raphael School of Nursing in 1938. She spent the early part of her career at the Hospital of St. Raphael and the Yale Infirmary and later as a school nurse at the Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven. She retired from nursing in 1975. She is survived by nephews Frederick Leaf of North Haven; Walter Moriarty of Canterbury CT; Ray Considine of Framingham MA; Peter Considine of Brooklyn CT; M.J. Leaf of Hamden; and nieces Ebba Jane Holland of Arlington MA; and Christine Dunham of Northford CT. She was predeceased by sisters Ethel Moriarty formerly of West Haven and Eleanor Considine of Hamden, and a brother Milton J. Leaf also of Hamden. Family and friends are invited to the funeral Wed., October 22, 2003 at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 450 Whitney Avenue New Haven. Calling hours will begin at 10 a.m. with the service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment immediately following the service at Beaverdale Cemetery in Hamden. At the request of the family memorial gifts may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church in New Haven. Arrangements under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT, HAMDEN.
