It is with great sadness that the family of Edna Luz Velez, a loving and devoted wife and mother, announce she passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025 at the age of 65 at CT Hospice.

Edna was always known for her welcoming smile, her kindness, and her excellent cooking.  She cherished spending time with her family, traveling to different places, and enjoying her time at the casino.  Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 29 years, Johnny Velez Sr.; her daughters, Mercedes M. Serrano and Marisol L. Serrano; her step daughter-in-law, Diane Mora-Velez; her grandchildren, Abel Velez, Elijah Burris, Dominic Velez, and three step grandchildren; her sisters, Maria (Jason) Hickman and Veronica Morales.  She is predeceased by her mother Juanita Bernazard-Morales and father Jesus “Choo” Morales and stepson Johnny Velez Jr.

Family and friends are invited to visit with her family on Saturday, March 8th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden.  A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt.
