Suddenly, in New Haven, September 15, 2000. Edward Joseph Stanford, Jr.of 8 High Meadow Rd., North Haven. Husband of Val Stanford.Father of Monica Stanford Emanuelson of North Haven. Grandfather of Elizabeth Stanford Emanuelson. Born in New Haven on September 5, 1927,he was the son of the late Edward J. and Minota Reynolds Stanford, Sr. Mr. Stanford attended New York University in their Pre-Med Program, after serving with the 11th Airborne Div, U.S. Army occupation forces in Sappora, Japan. He later attended Quinnipiac College. Mr. Stanford retired as President of the Schiavone Realty and Development Corp. and was a consultant for Buchanan Marine. He was a former member of the North Haven Planning and Zoning Commission. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the New Haven Country Club, where he had served on the Board of Governors. Nine years ago, Mr. Stanford founded the Yale - New Haven Cardiac Peer Visitor program, providing support and encouragement to people recovering from cardiac illness. He influenced the expansion of this program into 5 cardiac specialty areas. Funeral from BEECHER & BENNETT,2300 WHITNEY AVE., HAMDEN on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 9:30 A.M.
