Maloney, Edward John In St. Raphael Hospital, January 20, 2008, Edward John Maloney, age 90, of 69 Harding St., Hamden. Edward was the husband of Kathleen Beecher Maloney; father of Edward J. Maloney, Jr. of Branford, Richard (wife Sandra) Maloney of Hamden, the late Kathleen Maloney DePodesta & father in law of Richard DePodesta of Hamden; grandfather of Brian DePodesta, Tricia Fradin, Kristin DePodesta, Patrick Maloney, Elizabeth Maloney & Ryan Maloney; great grandfather of Avery DePodesta, Andrew DePodesta, Katie Fradin & Jenna Fradin & brother of the late Michael Maloney. Edward was born in New Haven Jan. 13, 1918, a son of the late Edward & Elizabeth Malloy Maloney. He was employed at the Knights of Columbus for over 57 years, retiring as the Administrative Assistant to the Supreme Knight. Edward was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Hamden where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, a past president of the Parish Council & was co-chairman of the church's Parish Drive. He was a past president of Serra International. Edward received the Charles Carroll of Carollton Award, was appointed Knight of St. Gregory by Pope John Paul II, he was past Grand Knight of Carmel Council 3605, was on the Boy Scout Council Board & the Hamden Library Board, he was on the Board of Foundation of Advancement of Catholic School & was a US Veteran of WWII. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 10 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements in care of BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Contributions in his memory can be made to the ALS Assoc., CT Chapter, 4 Oxford Rd., Unit D1, Milford, CT 06460.

  9. We were saddened to read of the passing of Ed Maloney. We have many fond memories of him and Kay with dad and mom, Louis and Edna Sidoli. We purchased our first Knights of Columbus Insurance Policy from Ed in 1959. Many KofC activities followed throughout the years. He was a friendly, sociable and honorable man.
