Edward S. Dara
MERIDEN - Edward S. Dara, 85, of Avery Avenue, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Regency House of Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Genevieve Szymaszek Dara. Born in Meriden on July 9, 1917, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Lorek Dara, Sr. He was employed as a buffer at the former International Silver Company and served as a sergeant in the 19th Infantry in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Southern Philippines in the Pacific Theater. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans. He was a devoted father, grandfather and uncle who will be greatly missed. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marie Dara of Meriden; three sisters, Margaret (Marge) Kulpa, Florence (Flo) Wells and Helen Marszalek; two very special grandchildren, John and Christine Dara; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Angiletta; several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, John Dara, Raymond Dara, Edmund Dara, Joseph Dara, Jr. and Paul Dara. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Beecher & Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden and at 10:15 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Dara's memory may be made to Maloney High School Concert Choir, 63 Gravel Street, Meriden, CT 06450, or to Boy Scouts of America, c/o Conn.
