Elaine M. Nana

Elaine Marie Nana, age 88, of Hamden, passed away at her home on December 2, 2016. She was the widow of Joseph Nana. Born in Torrington, CT on December 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Stella (Ponitowski) Chaplen. Elaine is survived by her daughters; Lorraine Hawes & her husband Gary, and Carol Norman & her husband Donald, both of Hamden; her son Gerald Nana & his wife Elizabeth Hindinger of Hamden, and grandchildren Joseph (Michelle) Hawes & Jennifer (Dan) Griggs. She was predeceased by her brother Roger Chaplen. Elaine was a Registered Nurse for many years employed at St. Raphael Hospital. A resident of Atria Larsen Place; her family would like to thank their staff and that of Life Guidance, especially her aide Nana Bradley, for the care and compassion that she received in her time of need. Friends may visit with her family at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM and may attend her Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Whitney Ave, Hamden. Her interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
