Our dear mother, Eleanor D. Maniscalco, wife of the late Frank Maniscalco, Sr. sadly passed away on November 5th, 2022 at the age of 96. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She was well loved by her family, many friends, and all who knew her.
She was born on May 23, 1926, a daughter of the late Candido and Adriana Sciessere Busa, and was a lifelong Meriden resident. She was a secretary of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, and then the Rectory and office as well for many years. Eleanor was also a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society and the Meriden Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by her children, Frank (Maureen) Maniscalco, Jr. of East Hartford, David (Lynn) Maniscalco of Madison, Philip (Susan) Maniscalco of Southington, Peter (Anita) Maniscalco of Longs, SC, and Mark Maniscalco (Jacqueline Case) of Meriden. She is the loving grandmother of Frank Maniscalco, III, Amanda Luurtsema, Charles Ballard, Jennifer Ballard, Matthew Maniscalco, Jody Farrell, Michael Maniscalco, Peter Maniscalco, Jr., Steven Maniscalco, and Leslie Giacco. She is the beloved great-grandmother of Ryan, Emma and Tyler Farrell, Ethan and Zander Ballard, and Vanessa and Kamryn Rios. She is also survived by her dear brother-in-law Anthony Maniscalco of Bristol, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Domenic, Candido and John Busa, and a sister, Mary Sczurek. Eleanor was especially close to her dear niece Linda Gaffey, her nephew Paul Sczurek, Carolyn Hall and her family, her very special friend Judi Lefebvre, and Father David Borino. Our family would like to thank the entire staff of The Connecticut Baptist Home, for their compassionate and truly loving care given to our mother as well as our family, bringing joy, comfort and peace to Mom in her final months.
