Meriden - Elena Carabetta, 89 wife of the late Pasquale Carabetta passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at MidState Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1921 in Grotteria, Reggio Di Calabria, Italy a daughter of the late Nicodemo and Caterina Tassone. Elena moved with her family from Italy to Australia and then to the United States sixty years ago. She worked for many years at Style Dress Company before opening Fratelli's Italian Restaurant of Southington with her two sons. She loved spending time in the kitchen and greeting customers. Elena, loved to travel and crochet blankets for her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother that will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Maria) Ridente of Meriden, two sons; Bruno Carabetta of Cheshire and David Carabetta of Southington. Her pride and joy were her three granddaughters, Roseann Ridente, Elena Ridente and Alexandra Carabetta. They will greatly miss their Nana. She also leaves two sisters; Mary Minniti of Boston, MA and Yolanda Napoli of Italy and many nieces and nephews. Elena was predeceased by her son, John her daughter, Jacqueline, her son-in-law, Antonio Ridente and her sister Rose Napoli. A funeral will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 8:00am at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am at St. Joseph Church, West Main St., Meriden. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 8 from 3-7pm.
