Middletown- Elinor Somerset Schnabel, 84, wife of the late Erwin A. Schnabel passed away Thursday, May 10, 2001 in the Lutheran Home of Middletown after a brief illness. She was born in Bridgeport, CT September 2, 1916 a daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Crowe Somerset and had lived in Meriden for many years before moving to Middletown. She was employed as a bookkeepper at the International Silver Co. Mrs. Schnabel was a parishner of St. Andrew's Church and a volunteer driver for the Red Cross. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Kim-Lesley and Michael Nichols of Cromwell, CT, two sisters, Phyllis Bateman of Meriden, CT, Ruth Blythe of Madison, CT, a brother Frederick Somerset of Meriden, CT, and two grandchildren Tara Joy and Michael Joseph Nichols. She was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Baer, and three brothers, Roy, Joseph and George Somerset. Funeral service will be held Saturday May 12, at 10 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave Meriden. Friends may call prior to the service from 9 to 10 AM. Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery.
